Lately, the idea of the 'floating farm' was proposed, a pioneer structure with renewable energy that produce milk and cheese, made in the port of Rotterdam. It's would also host a tech laboratory for refuse manage research.

The project designed for Rotterdam, with 40 cows, can produce about 1,200 liters of milk for day. The production cycle includes: nutrients, water and energy.

It's an example to follow in scale, to feed the cities increasingly urbanized around the world and populated, especially in densely populated areas that revolve around the delta river. Thanks for a successful collaboration of three subjects we have this magnificent idea: Courage, the institution of Holland agriculture, Uit Je Eigen Stad which manages urban farms in Rotterdam, and Beladon, specializes in floating structures.

The "floating farm" would generate every day products needed for surviving. The urine of the cows would be purified and used to grow medic and other forage, while the manure is used as fertilizer or transported to nearby farms who need it. Even rainwater is collected and filtered for watering the animals.

The structure would be powered by green energy, solar panels and turbines. To minimize the distances for transport, the center is the best, exactly in the port of Rotterdam.

In addition, the farm also has a hi-tech laboratory to conduct research on food and on the processing of waste and water. The production for consumers - citizens or shops - is not limited to milk, but this is also made into butter, yogurt and cheese. The farm would have a didactic purpose and its open to tours and school groups.
